Art & Crafts
One of my favourite hobbies is making things and being creative! I’ll be the first to admit, I’m no artist but, I still love it. Painting, drawing, scrapbooking, just making things – it’s one of my favourite ways to pass the time. I’ve even started learning to crochet and embroider recently which has been a really fun challenge!
I’m not offering you life changes pieces of art here, but I just like having a little record of all my favourite things I’ve made.
Art Supplies I Love
-
Posca Pens
I’ve only recently started using Posca Pens but they’re AMAZING - they’re basically acrylic paint markers so you can apply paint but… with a pen. They’re so versatile and I use them for adding outlines, lots of details, and filling in small areas of my abstract paintings. I own the black pens in a variety of sizes and in the ‘standard size’ I have multiple ‘basic’ colours and a few metallic pens. The colours are so smooth and so pigmented, I adore them!

Windsor & Newton Watercolour Paints (45 Half Pans)
I used to hate watercolour until the day I tried actually GOOD paints and realised where I’d been going wrong. This is one of the few mediums where I do think you really need to invest in something a little more than basic to get results and, for that, these Windsor & Newton paints are excellent. The smaller palettes are great too but I love this one because the colour selection is wonderful, the paints blend so beautifully together, and they’re wonderfully consistent.
-
Arteza Premium Acrylic Paint Set (60 Colours)
I used super cheap acrylic for the first 9 years of painting and it was fun but I started to feel a little limited and restricted at times. Then, I invested in this set and it was like I rediscovered my love and passion for acrylic all over again. The colours in this kit are so beautiful and bold and bright. The paints are easy to blend with each other but also thick enough that I can create loads of texture or impasto!) on the page which I really, really enjoy.

Grinning Gargoyle Acrylic Paints for Miniatures
The set I’ve linked isn’t exactly the set I have - I have a slightly different colour selection - but it’s more the brand that I’m recommending. When I started painting minis I used used my basic Crawford & Black cheap acrylic paints but decided to upgrade when I realised how much I loved the process - these paints were SUCH AN UPGRADE. The colours were bolder, shiner, easier to work with, the washes in this set are beautiful. Just an absolute game-changer!
-
Windsor & Newton Watercolour Paints (12 Half Pans)
This set isn’t too different from the above 45 pan set BUT that set is HUGE and not too convenient for travelling with, unlike this set! It’s small enough to literally just fit in your handbag so when I’m heading out into the real world to paint in the forest or on the beach, this is what I take with me!
-
Faber-Castell Pastel Pencils (24)
These are really lovely pastel pencils - you can be super-precise and smooth with the application and they’re really easy to blend with each other. They’re not quite as bold as some of the cheaper pastels I’ve used BUT they are more consistent in their texture and overall produce a cleaner, more professional looking image.
-
Caran D'Ache Neocolor II Watersoluble Wax Pastels
These pastels are insane but so so so much fun - they apply like wax crayons or oil pastels but the moment you add water, they act like a sort of creamy, watercolour paint. They’re one of the more expensive art supplies but they’re so unique and so much fun to use! You can check out my full video review on my art channel on Youtube.
All the above suggestions are absolutely fantastic products which I thoroughly recommend but please note that the links I’ve provided are affiliate links which means, if you buy anything using those links, I get a little bit of money from it which goes back into my work and my Youtube channel. Thank you!
